BIENVENIDOS , welcome to Cozumel! Here is some information to assist you in getting through Customs, Immigration and the Airport and into a Ground Transport to EL Cantil.
Please make sure we have your most current Airline Arrival information on File at least 3 weeks prior to arrival date so that we may be ready when you are dropped off in front of the Reception Office for Check in.
When requested, we will send a representative on a moped to greet you , and see if you need any help and make you feel special. Recently, the Federal Police , in conjunction with the Unions and Time Share Representatives at the Airport, have been sending him on his way and not allowing anyone to stand out front with a sign and wait for tourists. We are working on a permit to allow him to to come and greet our guests, as well as for all Hotels. We will continue to attempt to be there, and if no one is kicks us out, we will be. Though, if we are not able to, please forgive us and follow these very explicit arrival information below.
Check in is 3 pm and check out is 12 noon. Please let us know if you need to check in earlier and we will assist when possible. There is luggage area and a changing bathroom to get in to your suits and lay at the beach until your room is
perfectly clean and ready for you.
If you are arriving at El Cantil after 6:00 pm, please notify us in advance. Your room keys with be in the safe in the Restaurant on the roof, and just show ID to the Cashier and she will give you the keys and a doorman will escort you to your unit. You can check in the next day at 9 am when the office re opens and leave your security deposit and settle any payments due. Please have ID available to show him to get the keys. We will register you and answer all your questions in the morning. The Rooftop Restaurant is open until 10:30 for dinner, so you have somewhere great to eat!
On the flight in you will be given a Visa and Customs Form to fill out. Make sure to do this prior to landing, it speeds up the process of getting cleared. Make sure to keep the part given back to you as you pass Immigration, you will need this to exit the country!
After you pass through Immigration, you will retrieve your luggage and proceed to Customs. Customs has a system of random checking of all luggages coming into the country. If you get a Red Light, then you will be asked to open some or all your luggage. Just follow the directions of the Customs Officers and they will get you on your way as soon as possible.
If you have boxes, you will almost automatically get inspected. Try not to transport anything in boxes, as they ask for receipts for all these. You are allowed $10,000 in Cash and $300 per person in gifts or whatever to bring into Mexico without declaring this. A Laptop Computer is exempt. Desktop computers are not!
After leaving Customs, make a right and walk down to the last Kiosk on the left, it has a sign that says GROUND TRANSPORTATION. Tell them you want to buy a ticket to El Cantil, pay , and walk outside. You will see the brand new, AC vans, show your ticket to the English speaking drivers and they will assign you to a Shuttle. It is about $8 per person and is a 10 minute ride from the Airport To El Cantil. If you have arranged for a Rental Car, please make sure you know where they are going to bring the car.
NOTICE: AS SOON AS YOU LEAVE CUSTOMS, YOU WILL BE HOUNDED BY PERSONS WHO HAVE A TAG THAT SAYS “TRAVEL ADVISOR”. THEY WILL ASK YOU WHERE YOU ARE GOING, LIKE THEY ARE OFFICIAL, AND THEN GUIDE YOU OVER TO A TIME SHARE SALESMAN. THEY WILL OFFER YOU EVERYTHING FREE YOU CAN IMAGINE; IT IS A TIME SHARE OFFER, IF YOU WANT TO BUY A TIME SHARE, BY ALL MEANS GO WITH THEM, BUT BE PREPARED TO LOSE A LOT OF TIME.
We can not TRANSPORT TOURISTS DUE TO STRICT UNION LAWS!
If you are not carrying much luggage and want to save a few dollars, you can walk outside the property of the Airport and wait in the street to catch a Cab, sometimes you wait a few minutes, sometimes hours, depends. This costs about $10.00 for up to 4 persons.
If you are renting a car and want to come on your own, review the map to the left for reference.
Once you arrive at El Cantil, you will need to come into the Reception Office and register. You will be given your keys and one of the Concierges will show you to your condo. The doormen, will take care of watching your luggage on
their carts and deliver to your Unit.
All questions about what to do, where to go, renting vehicles, etc, will be answered in the El Cantil office. The office of the Concierge is open daily from 9-6 pm. They can arrange all excursions and rentals and other activities at special discounted rates for our clients.
